4.1 The Commissioner

Pursuant to Section 4.8 of the Police Service Administration Act 1990, the Commissioner is responsible for the efficient and proper administration, management and functioning of the QPS in accordance with law.
Section 4.8(2)(b) of this Act provides that the Commissioner of Police is responsible for the "determination of the appropriate organisational structure of the department".
In line with this responsibility, the Commissioner has issued a number of Executive Directions defining the organisational structure of the QPS. The Organisational Chart indicates the structure of the QPS.
