The Queensland Police Service in partnership with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads and stakeholders from the Trucking Association and Pilot Association recognizes the difficult tasks required for personnel involved in the transport of over-dimensional loads in the State of Queensland.
As a result, in consultation with these stakeholders this unit was established to provide a high standard of service that promoted consistency in the assessment and issuing of permits in a timely manner and to provide training in the practical application of legislative requirements.
The Performance Guidelines issued by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) are the governing rules and regulations specific to vehicle requirements and driver requirements for all vehicles involved in the transport of over-dimensional loads. This includes truck drivers and pilot and escort drivers.
