The QPS commenced its rollout of tasers to operational police across the State in January 2009.
In light of significant changes made to Taser policy, training and monitoring processes, the QPS has developed an updated community engagement strategy in consultation with advocacy groups such as the Queensland Alliance for Mental Health (QAMH) and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service (ATSILS).
This strategy gives particular attention to people who may have underlying health conditions as well as those in regional and Indigenous communities.
On these pages you will find more information on the introduction of tasers and answers to frequently asked questions.
