The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) will be the largest sporting event hosted in Australia this decade. More than 6,600 athletes and team officials from 70 Commonwealth nations and territories will come to Queensland to participate in the Games. They will be joined by close to 15,000 volunteers, 1.5 million ticketed spectators and 3,000 international media broadcasting to a cumulative global audience of 1.5 billion.

The Queensland Police Service along with official Games organisers, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation, the Office of the Commonwealth Games, and state and federal security agencies are responsible for the public safety and security response for GC2018.

The Queensland Government has passed legislation to support police operations during Games time. These new laws will have temporary impacts on some areas of the community. Find out how Commonwealth Games laws will affect you.
