Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) is an internationally recognised program which helps to improve the quality of life within our communities and neighbourhoods by reducing crime, the fear of crime and enhancing community safety and business security. The aim of the program is to connect our communities and neighbourhoods through partnerships, collaboration, and a shared vision to assist our community to protect their home, family, property and businesses.

Neighbourhood Watch Queensland (NHWQ) has been operating in Queensland since 1988 and is a fully inclusive organisation. The Queensland Police Service provides assistance to the NHWQ community through the provision of timely information and strategies to reduce crime and maintain a strong and safe community.

NHWQ went through significant changes in 2015, when they saw the formulation of a Community Advisory Committee (CAC), with members representing our 15 police districts across Queensland. This committee was established to assist NHW Community groups within the districts and provide information and support at a grass roots level.

The 2016 state conference was held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. The theme of the conference was "Strengthen the connection of our neighbourhoods" and included national and international speakers and was described by many in attendance as the best conference thus far.

Together we are reaching the community on all platforms, including our up to date online information via blogs and Facebook. The internet can be very daunting for some but is a great opportunity to connect and immediately share information as it happens. There are on average 400 NHW groups across Queensland with approximately 12 000 subscribers to our blogs, which is growing daily. We have expanded our horizons and incorporated 'talk to us' pages and blog personalisation to make it easy for you to reach us. Facebook is another social media avenue enabling neighbours to easily and quickly engage and share vital information. We would love for you to like our page, share and like our posts.

Please subscribe to our blogs and follow us on Facebook to see what's happening in your local area.  You can find us and get connected by clicking on this link. www.nhwq.org and Facebook.
