Everyone has the right to safety and a life without fear. The personal safety information and advice offered by the Queensland Police Service (QPS) aims to maximise the safety and enhance the quality of life of everyone.
A suite of programs have been developed to preserve the safety of children, youth and adults. The programs aim to provide:
- an awareness of safety risks for each target group
- practical strategies to reduce the risk of becoming a victim and
- advice to respond effectively to various safety threats.
The QPS also provides free personal safety awareness workshops to all members of the community. A range of personal safety resources including brochures and fact sheets are also available from police stations.
Personal Safety Presentations
Personal Safety presentations are available to all members of the community. These free presentations aim to provide attendees with an awareness of safety risks and practical strategies to preserve their safety.
Presentations are delivered by trained police personnel and are available in locations across the State. Presentations are custom-made to meet audience needs and range from 30 to 90 mins.
Personal Safety presentations can be delivered to specific audiences, including children, young people, adults and seniors, and address the key safety risks relevant to that target audience. Practical strategies to reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim of personal violence and how to respond effectively should they face a safety threat are discussed. Other topics include how to stay safe in the home, at work, at school, out and about, in the social scene, in the car and on public transport.
For your free Personal Safety presentation, contact your local police station and ask for the District Crime Prevention Coordinator.
