State Emergency Service

Queensland State Emergency Service (SES) is a volunteer-based emergency and rescue service organisation whose role is to prepare for and respond to severe weather and emergencies across the state 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365-days a year.

With more than 5,000 volunteers across 76 units and seven regions, SES members are always ready to respond to emergencies, whatever the time, place or weather.

The SES helps communities prepare for, respond to and recover from natural disasters, including:

  • cyclones and severe storms
  • floods
  • earthquakes
  • landslides.

SES volunteers also conduct:

  • search and rescue operations
  • crime scene/forensics searches
  • provide community preparedness and safety education
  • support other emergency service agencies.
