- Our history
Founded in 1998 by members of the Queensland Police Pipes & Drums, the Juvenile Band is one of Australia’s most successful youth pipe bands. The Juvenile Band holds a very significant place in the history of the QPS, with continued unwavering support being provided by all QPS Commissioners since the band’s inception. This support continues today, with Juvenile Pipes & Drums being longest standing youth program run by the QPS. The band is also the longest running Police Juvenile band in the world.
Through the history of the Juvenile Program, we have seen former Juvenile Band members transition to obtain full-time employment or VIP/Honorary membership of the Senior Band (QPPD). These opportunities have come about due to the commitment and drive, by individual members to take their craft and develop it to a professional level.
