I want to talk to the police or make a report

Just because you may want to talk to the police doesn’t mean you are making a complaint and that the police will have to investigate. This is entirely your choice.

You can make an online Sexual Assault Report which means the police will conduct an investigation, and it may result in court proceedings.

Alternatively, you can report it by way of an Alternative Reporting Option which is not investigated by police and does not require any court processes.  However, we will still be aware of what happened for information purposes.

If you have been a victim of rape or sexual assault there are other ways you can talk to or get in contact with us. At the bottom of the page are links to how to report online for matters that have occurred within Queensland.  In addition, you can always call police via Policelink (131 444) or go to your local police station for advice.   For an assault that happened in another state of Australia please make contact via these links and numbers:

New South Wales Police Force - 1800 725 631 or online reporting options

Victoria Police - Sexual offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team contacts

South Australia Police - Use the online form on  www.police.sa.gov.au

Western Australia Police Force - (08) 9428 1600

Northern Territory Police Force - (08) 8922 3617 or via NT station contacts

Australian Capital Territory - (02) 5126 000 or online ACT Historical Sexual Abuse report

Tasmania Police - 1800 POL TAS (1800 765 827)

We understand it can be difficult. You might not be completely sure what happened or how to talk about it but our trained officers are here to listen and may organise support agencies for you if you wish.

Importantly, your information could help us bring an offender to justice and make sure you, and other people in a similar situation, are kept safe.
