Minors Licence (Cat A & B) for Primary Production

You have chosen to apply for a Minors Licence (Cat A & B) for Primary Production. To support your application, you will need to provide:

  1. Proof of address (Queensland Drivers Licence, rates notice or electricity bill).
  2. Your birth certificate, passport, learner’s permit or student ID card.
  3. Your statement of attainment for an approved firearms safety course, covering the category of weapon you’re applying for.
  4. For each property you work at, a signed permission letter dated within the past 12 months. The letter should state why the weapons are required and details of your employment on the property. You should also include proof of your employment (three recent payslips or a business registration certificate).
  5. A letter from a parent or guardian consenting to your use of firearms. Please ensure your parent or guardian includes their contact details on the letter.
  6. Information about your occupation as a primary producer and whether or not you are engaged in other forms of employment:
    1. Is primary production your sole source of income?
    2. If not, what other forms of employment are you engaged in? Please provide details about your other employers, and the hours and location of employment.
  7. Details of any medical condition endorsed on your Queensland Drivers Licence.
  8. A current passport-quality photograph.

Additional Information

If you also want to participate in target shooting at an approved shooting club, please view the requirements under the genuine reason ‘Sport of Target Shooting’.

Important information

To make sure that your application is assessed as quickly as possible it is important that the information you supply to us is correct and complete, and that your supporting documentation is uploaded to your application or forwarded to Weapons Licensing within 28 days from submitting the online application. You are strongly encouraged to contact your local club or dealer about assisting you to complete your licence application, and to ensure the required documentation is submitted. If your application does not meet our requirements it could be refused or there could be substantial delays while we seek further information from you.

Please be advised that this online service can only be used for the purpose of applying for a NEW licence. If you are an existing Weapons Licence holder you can use the online forms to apply for an additional type of Weapons Licence otherwise, if you want to renew your Weapons Licence please see the renewals section for information on how to do this.
