Armourer's Licence (Cat A, B, C, D, E, H, M & R)

To apply for an Armourer's Licence you will need to provide:

  1. Contact Weapons Licensing to ensure the requirements are met.
  2. Proof of address (for premises to be used - such as a lease, rates notice or electricity bill);
  3. Statement of Attainment for an approved Firearms Safety Course for the categories of weapons you are applying for;
  4. Business plan including details of your intended client/market base;
  5. Your understanding of the legislation as it affects a licensed armourer 
    (Explain your understanding of all sections of the Weapons Act 1990, the Weapons Regulations 2016 relevant to that of a Licenced Weapons Armourer);
  6. Written advice of the security precautions to be taken to ensure the safekeeping of all weapons to be stored, including an indication on whether or not these precautions meet the requirements of sections 78-87 of the Weapons Regulation 2016;
  7. Where you intend undertaking this work - Details of the location and construction of the premises where you propose to operate the business, including proof of address;
  8. A copy of your current registered business/company name, providing details of the type of enterprise (e.g. Sole proprietor, partnership etc) including the extract detailing the office holders of the company/business;
  9. Written approval from your local council certifying that the intended land use for the business complies with local by-laws or stating there is no objection to the business operating from the business operating address;
  10. Details of all qualifications and experience relevant to performing the functions of an armourer. This may be in the form of a resume and may contain referees from person/s within the industry;
  11. Skills you possess that allow you to perform the functions of an armourer, having regard to individual and public safety;
  12. Equipment you possess to enable you to perform the functions of an armourer;
  13. Provide details of any medical condition endorsed on your Queensland Drivers Licence.
  14. Current passport-quality photograph of the representative of the Business.

To make sure that your application is assessed as quickly as possible it is important that the information you supply to us is correct and complete, and that your supporting documentation is uploaded to your application or forwarded to Weapons Licensing within 28 days from submitting the online application. You are strongly encouraged to contact your local club or dealer about assisting you to complete your licence application, and to ensure the required documentation is submitted. If your application does not meet our requirements it could be refused or there could be substantial delays while we seek further information from you.

Please be advised that this online service can only be used for the purpose of applying for a NEW licence. If you are an existing Weapons Licence holder you can use the online forms to apply for an additional type of Weapons Licence otherwise, if you want to renew your Weapons Licence please see the renewals section for information on how to do this.
