If the firearm/s are registered in another state or territory, then proof of registration to the deceased in that state or territory, will also be required. To help the transfer, the firearms should be transferred from an interstate dealer to a Queensland dealer.
If the firearms owner died without a will and the Public Trustee of Queensland is appointed as the executor, we require a letter from the Public Trustee of Queensland to confirm the transfer can occur. In this circumstance , Schedule 2 of the Succession Act 1981 (Qld) will help with the distribution of the estate.
