Collector’s Licence – Business (A, B, C, D, H, M & R)
You have chosen to apply for a Collector's Licence (Business). To support your application, you will need to provide:
- Proof of address (Queensland Drivers Licence, rates notice or electricity bill).
- Your statement of attainment for an approved firearms safety course, covering the category of weapon you’re applying for.
- A letter on corporate letterhead, authorising you to represent the business or organisation and including the name and position of the author.
- Information about the precautions you will take to ensure the weapons are kept safely. This should include an explanation of how these precautions meet the standards set by the Weapons Regulation Act 2016 (Sections 88-92).
- A current passport-quality photograph.

For military re-enactment or historical demonstrations
Please provide proof of your current financial membership of a recognised military re-enactment club/society.
For temporarily inoperable Category H weapons manufactured on or before 31 December 1946 (Personal - Collectable Handguns)
Please provide a declaration from the endorsed representative of an approved historical society (Approved Historical Society Declaration Form QP517):
- Stating that you are a current financial member of the society;
- Including your membership number and expiry date; and
- Stating that you are a genuine collector of weapons.

For Category H manufactured after 1 January 1947 (Personal - Modern Collectable Handguns)
Please provide a declaration from the endorsed representative of an approved historical society:
- Stating that you are a current financial member of the society;
- Including your membership number and expiry date; and
- Stating that you are a genuine collector of weapons.
You must also provide information to show that you have a prolonged and genuine interest in the study, preservation or collection of firearms.
Additional information
This licence may be endorsed for Category A, B, C, D, H, M and R weapons. However, there are conditions to be met regarding the state of the weapons. These are listed below.
- Category D, M or R weapons
- for firearms – those made permanently inoperable; or
- for other weapons – those that are inert.
- Category A, B or C weapons that are collectable firearms manufactured on or after 1 January 1901, only if the weapons are made temporarily inoperable.
- Category H weapons
- manufactured on or after 1 January 1901 and before 1 January 1947 that are temporarily inoperable, collectable firearms (‘collectable handguns’); or
- manufactured on or after 1 January 1947 that are temporarily inoperable, collectable firearms and the licensee’s licence is endorsed to allow possession of collectable firearms manufactured on or after 1 January 1947 (‘modern collectable handguns’); or
- otherwise – they are permanently inoperable.
- Groups such as private museums, historical societies and R.S.L.’s wishing to display firearms or military re-enactment/historical demonstrations will require this licence.
