Firearms Licence (Instructor) (Cat A, B, C, D, E, H & M)

To apply for a Firearms (Instructor) Licence you will need to provide:

  1. Proof of address (rates notice or electricity bill are preferred);
  2. Proof of the successful completion of the approved training course for Security Licensing (Guard) (CPP30411) and/or the Course in Firearms Safety - 30989QLD. Provide a Statement of Attainment issued within the last 12 months that contains the following information: The date the certificate was awarded, the modules completed in the course, the categories of weapons in which you have been deemed competent and the name of the registered training provider; OR
  3. Details of any current weapons licences held;
  4. Evidence of your current Registered Training Organisation (RTO) registration with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) as an approved provider of a Course for Security Licensing (Guard) (CPP30411) and/or the Course in Firearms Safety 30989QLD; OR
  5. A letter of authorisation from a RTO registered with ASQA as the provider of a course approved by the Commissioner under the Weapons Act 1990. This letter should contain details of: the registered number of the RTO course provider, the courses you are authorised to instruct, the categories of weapons you are authorised to instruct, the period of time the authorisation is valid and where the course instruction will take place;
  6. Evidence of your qualification Certificate IV for Workplace Training and Assessment
  7. Evidence of your practical experience in the handling and use of weapons. This may be presented in the form of a resume and include copies of the relevant certificates, awards and proofs of membership;
  8. Provide details of any medical condition endorsed on your Queensland Drivers Licence;
  9. Current passport-quality photograph.

To make sure that your application is assessed as quickly as possible it is important that the information you supply to us is correct and complete, and that your supporting documentation is uploaded to your application or forwarded to Weapons Licensing within 28 days from submitting the online application. You are strongly encouraged to contact your local club or dealer about assisting you to complete your licence application, and to ensure the required documentation is submitted. If your application does not meet our requirements it could be refused or there could be substantial delays while we seek further information from you.

Please be advised that this online service can only be used for the purpose of applying for a NEW licence. If you are an existing Weapons Licence holder you can use the online forms to apply for an additional type of Weapons Licence otherwise, if you want to renew your Weapons Licence please see the renewals section for information on how to do this.
