Group Licence – Occupational (Cat A, B, C, D, E, H & M)

You have chosen to apply for a Group Licence – Occupational (Cat A, B, C, D, E, H & M). This licence can be issued to a person or a group to satisfy an occupational need.  An occupational need to possess a weapon may involve activities not limited to professions within local authorities (e.g. councils), pastoral companies, feedlots, abattoirs or zoological parks. Depending on your group’s requirements, this licence can provide the same authority as firearms licence, a firearms licence (instructor), a concealable firearms licence or a miscellaneous weapons licence. To apply for a Group Licence – Occupational, you will need to provide the following:

  1. Proof of address (Queensland Drivers Licence, rates notice or electricity bill).
  2. Your statement of attainment from an approved firearms safety training course.
  3. A letter on organisation letterhead containing:
    1. The name and position of the author
    2. Authorisation for you to represent the organisation for this application
    3. Details of the activities for which weapons are needed
    4. The reasons why weapons are needed.
  4. A copy of the registered business or company name certificate. This must include details of the type of enterprise (e.g. sole proprietor/partnership) and details of the office holders of the business. If the licence is for a shooting gallery, please provide the shooting gallery approval number.
  5. Details of the storage facility where weapons are to be stored, and how it complies with legislation.
  6. A current passport-quality photograph.

Important information

To make sure that your application is assessed as quickly as possible it is important that the information you supply to us is correct and complete, and that your supporting documentation is uploaded to your application or forwarded to Weapons Licensing within 28 days from submitting the online application. You are strongly encouraged to contact your local club or dealer about assisting you to complete your licence application, and to ensure the required documentation is submitted. If your application does not meet our requirements it could be refused or there could be substantial delays while we seek further information from you.

Please be advised that this online service can only be used for the purpose of applying for a NEW licence. If you are an existing Weapons Licence holder you can use the online forms to apply for an additional type of Weapons Licence otherwise, if you want to renew your Weapons Licence please see the renewals section for information on how to do this.
