Security Licence (Guard) - Sole Provider (Cat C, E & H)

You have chosen to apply for a Security Licence (Guard) - Sole Provider Licence (Cat C, E & H). This licence is for people who provide armed security services as a sole trader and do not employ others. To support your application, you will need to provide:

  1. Proof of address (Queensland Drivers Licence, rates notice or electricity bill).
  2. Information that shows the need for an armed service. Please supply a list of your potential clients, with letters from them on company letterhead including the following:  
    1. The author’s name, address and contact number/s;
    2. The type of services required by the business (e.g. cash escort);
    3. The frequency of the services needed (e.g. twice per week); and
    4. The arrangement to be put in place should you be unavailable for work.
  3. Your statement of attainment issued within the last 12 months from a Registered Training Organisation as proof you have successfully completed the (CPP30411 Certificate III in Security Operations) consisting of the following units of competency:
    1. Manage conflict through negotiation
    2. Determine response to security risk situation
    3. Maintain security of environment
    4. Control security risk situations using firearms (this module must be completed for the specific categories of firearms sought; e.g. categories C, E or H, revolver and/or semi-automatic).
  4. A copy of your registered business or company name certificate. This must include details of the type of enterprise (e.g. sole proprietor/partnership) and details of the office holders of the business.
  5. A copy of the front and back of your current Security Provider’s Licence, endorsed with Cash in Transit and issued by the Queensland Office of Fair Trading. 
  6. Details of the address where the business will be conducted. This should be accompanied by written approval from your local council or government authority stating there is no objection to your intended business operating from the chosen address.
  7. A description of your secure storage facility and how it complies with the Weapons Act 1990 and Weapons Regulations 2016
  8. Details of the procedure if you are unable to meet your contractual duties due to illness or injury. This must be supported by letters from your contracted clients stating that they agree to these arrangements, on business letterhead.
  9. Details of any medical condition endorsed on your Queensland Drivers Licence.
  10. A current passport-quality photograph.

Additional Information

This type of licence does not authorise the contracting or sub–contracting of duties with another security organisation or licensee.

To make sure that your application is assessed as quickly as possible it is important that the information you supply to us is correct and complete, and that your supporting documentation is uploaded to your application or forwarded to Weapons Licensing within 28 days from submitting the online application. You are strongly encouraged to contact your local club or dealer about assisting you to complete your licence application, and to ensure the required documentation is submitted. If your application does not meet our requirements it could be refused or there could be substantial delays while we seek further information from you.
