Security Licence - Organisation (Cat C, E & H)

You have chosen to apply for a Security Licence - Organisation (Cat C, E & H). This licence relates to people or organisations providing security services by licensed employees. You will need to apply for a separate licence for each location where the armed security services are to be provided. For example, if a security organisation has officers in Townsville and Cairns who will provide armed services, an application will need to be made for both Townsville and Cairns.

To support your application for a Security Licence - Organisation (Cat C, E & H), you will need to provide:

  1. Proof of address (Queensland Drivers Licence, rates notice or electricity bill).
  2. Information that shows the need for an armed service. Please supply a list of your potential clients, with letters from them on company letterhead including the following:  
    1. The author’s name, address and contact number/s;
    2. The type of services required by the business (e.g. cash escort);
    3. The frequency of the services needed (e.g. twice per week); and
    4. The perceived risks that led to the requirement for an armed security service.
  3. A copy of your organisation’s operating procedures and guidelines for employees when using weapons as part of their occupation.
  4. A copy of your registered business or company name certificate. This must include details of the type of enterprise (e.g. sole proprietor/partnership) and details of the office holders of the business.
  5. Details of the address where the business will operate.
  6. Written approval from your local council stating that the location of the business is in compliance with council by-laws; or, a letter from the council stating there is no objection to the location of the business.
  7. A copy of your current Security Firm’s Licence (SFM) issued under the Security Providers Act 1993. This must be in the name of your business.
  8. Your statement of attainment issued within the last 12 months from a Registered Training Organisation, as proof of successful completion of the (CPP30411 Certificate III in Security Operations) consisting of the following units of competency:
    1. Manage conflict through negotiation
    2. Determine response to security risk situation
    3. Maintain security of environment
    4. Control security risk situations using firearms (this module must be completed for the specific categories of firearms sought; e.g. categories C, E or H, revolver and/or semi-automatic). 
  9. A description of how you will store weapons, including details of the safe or vault location, construction and weight.
  10. A current passport-quality photograph of the business representative.

To make sure that your application is assessed as quickly as possible it is important that the information you supply to us is correct and complete, and that your supporting documentation is uploaded to your application or forwarded to Weapons Licensing within 28 days from submitting the online application. You are strongly encouraged to contact your local club or dealer about assisting you to complete your licence application, and to ensure the required documentation is submitted. If your application does not meet our requirements it could be refused or there could be substantial delays while we seek further information from you.

Please be advised that this online service can only be used for the purpose of applying for a NEW licence.
