Theatrical Ordnance Supplier's Licence

You have chosen to apply for a Theatrical Ordnance Suppliers Licence. The first step is to contact the Senior Inspections Officer (Dealers) Weapons Licensing. Once you are ready to apply, you will need to provide the following documents to support your application:

 

  1. Proof of address for the premises you will be using for the business (this can be a lease, rates notice or electricity bill).
  2. Your statement of attainment for an approved firearms safety course for the categories of weapons to be possessed under the licence; or a copy of a valid licence for the categories of weapons to be possessed.
  3. A copy of your registered business or company name certificate. This must include details of the type of enterprise (e.g. sole proprietor/partnership) and details of the office holders of the business.
  4. Written approval from your local council stating that the location of the business is in compliance with council by-laws; or, a letter from the council stating there is no objection to the location of the business.
  5. Evidence of your involvement in the film, television or theatrical production industries (this could include references or details of previous employment).
  6. Your business plan, including a full description of the activities you plan to undertake under the licence.
  7. Details of how you will ensure weapons are kept safely, including whether your precautions meet the requirements in sections 78-87 of the Weapons Regulations 2016. The premises will be inspected prior to your application being approved.
  8. Details of any medical condition endorsed on your Queensland Drivers Licence.
  9. A current passport-quality photograph.

To make sure that your application is assessed as quickly as possible it is important that the information you supply to us is correct and complete, and that your supporting documentation is uploaded to your application or forwarded to Weapons Licensing within 28 days from submitting the online application. You are strongly encouraged to contact your local club or dealer about assisting you to complete your licence application, and to ensure the required documentation is submitted. If your application does not meet our requirements it could be refused or there could be substantial delays while we seek further information from you.

Please be advised that this online service can only be used for the purpose of applying for a NEW licence. If you are an existing Weapons Licence holder you can use the online forms to apply for an additional type of Weapons Licence otherwise, if you want to renew your Weapons Licence please see the renewals section for information on how to do this.
