We understand it can be difficult to report these matters to police. You may not be completely sure about what happened or how to talk about it, but trained officers are here to listen and can organise support services to help you if you wish. When contacting police, you have the choice on how you do this and whether you want your matter investigated. It is never too late to report a sexual offence. Even if the assault happened months or years ago, you can tell police. To find out more, visit our historical or past sexual assaults page.
If you would like the police to investigate what happened to you, you can:
- Report online using the sexual assault online reporting form
- Call Policelink on 131 444 (Policelink is operated 24/7 and translation services are available)
- Report in person at any Queensland Police station
If you choose this option, police may begin an investigation and may ask you to give a statement. You may also need to go to court to give evidence as a witness. You can find further information on the police investigation process on our police investigations page, and if you would like to know about support options available to you throughout this process, visit the support services page.
If you would prefer to tell police what happened to you but do not want them to investigate it or provide a formal statement, you can use the Alternative Reporting Options online form. By choosing this option, your information may be able to help other people in similar situations and could help police with other investigations. You can also remain anonymous by using this option.
