Media and Public Affairs
Media and Public Affairs is responsible for ensuring effective and timely public messaging to keep the community informed about public safety and crime issues as well as other broader issues that impact on the people of Queensland.
The Media Operations Room is a 24/7 liaison point for police and media around the state. Members of the media unit come from a range of backgrounds including journalism, corporate communications and operational policing.
The room is staffed by sworn and unsworn personnel to provide statewide operational support, managing media inquiries and publishing information to the public.
The Public Affairs team manages public relations campaigns and proactive media projects to build community trust and confidence in the QPS.
Media and Public Affairs maintains the myPolice network and social media sites, including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, which have become vital tools enabling the QPS to engage with our local communities.
We also has overall editorial responsibility for this website.
Qld Police Museum
We aspire to be an accessible and valued museum of national standing. We explore Queensland’s policing history through the documentation, collection and preservation of policing memorabilia. We use our resources, exhibitions and public programs to investigate and compare issues faced by police officers of times past and of today.
- We promote the QPS, enhance its public image and foster pride in its achievements among current members, ex-members and their families.
- We collect, document, preserve and display the history and traditions of the Queensland Police.
- We promote a better understanding of police services in the wider community by establishing an educational venue for all students from the primary through to the tertiary sector.
- We promote and encourage visits by the wider community.

Strategic Communications and Engagement
The Strategic Communications and Engagement team is responsible for internal communications and engagement within the QPS.
Vision: An informed, connected and engaged QPS workforce.
Purpose: To enable effective internal communication across the QPS.
We support enterprise messaging that informs, aligns and engages the workforce.
We provide communications support aligned to strategic and operational plans and organisational values, enhancing employee experience through the effective use of internal communication platforms (Viva Engage, Vision6 email).
